Plugins are a great addition to any WordPress site and there are thousands of blog posts that list the 10 best or 30 best WordPress plugins. However here are some great plugins that I use regularly that do not get much of a look-in in these types of posts as they are great if you have a specific problem.
CigiCigi Post Guest
If you are hoping to encourage guest posts then this is an easy and painless way to do so. Create a landing page on your site like my “Submit guest posts” page where you outline your rules and what your looking for then just let the guest posts come in.
You can include a Captcha on the submission if you want to keep away the robots however I do not and I have little spam. The posts are sent to the back end for the user to decide if he wants to share them or not. This is a simple Plugin to use and well worth a look if you want to encourage guest posting.
I have received some good quality guest posts using this plugin and if your looking for an easy way to get guest posts look no further.
FancyBox for WordPress
If you want to put thumbnails of images on the site but you have interesting information in those images and you think the user may want to look at a bigger image then FancyBox is the plugin for you. It has a whole host of customisable options for the advanced user, however the plugin works fine straight out of the box.
As you can see from this post all you need to do is click on the thumbs and you get a bigger image, simples. The best part of it all is that it recognises an image and will automatically add the option
Nrelate Related Content
If you look at the bottom of this page you will see 4 thumbnails under the “YOU MAY ALSO LIKE –“ heading. This is a great way to introduce your readers to other blog posts they may find interesting. This will help reduce your bounce rate and increase your readers time on site. As you can see the plugin is easy to configure and use.
Nrelate also offers an affiliate option to display adverts on the site. I am just trialing this now and I will let how it performs.
Hana Code insert
This is a great plugin to load complex HTML and Java script into a post using a short code, I use it for email signups, inserting banner advert’s into specific posts and lots of other useful long code items.
I hope this helps you out.
